Get Back up Again

So, Toby Mac has a song that has encouraged me countless times – “Get Back Up.” The chorus goes,

We lose our way,
We get back up again
It’s never too late to get back up again,
One day you’re gonna shine again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever,
Lose our way,
We get back up again,
So get up, get up,
You gonna shine again,
Never too late to get back up again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever
(May be knocked down but not out forever)

You may notice, the last time I posted I was writing about the difficult process of obtaining a Nigerian visa. Well, I made it through that hurdle, and I now have my green card, but I’m writing this from the USA – not exactly what I had planned.

Falling deathly ill and having to return stateside gave me a great opportunity to feel defeated, but my community was praying for me, cheering for me, and reached out in love to me. It’s been six months since we’ve been back, and I’m feeling stronger than ever. I was knocked down, but I got back up again. Thanks to so many things, I’m shining again. I’ve got new goals, new hope, and still pressing toward the dream I’ve had forever, just in a way I never expected.

What can you do today to take one step toward your dream? Who’s speaking into your life? Who’s in your community? If it’s sucky right now, start building a new community around yourself. If you need encouragement, that is one of my all time favorite things to give. Reach out. I’d love to be there for you!
